About Me

I am Courtney Mackey Wilbur aka CMW aka Creative Mother

& Woman.

I have over 15 years of experience in leading movement classes and well-being programs. For as long as I can remember, I have felt a profound sense of awe and wonder toward the human body, mind, and spirit.

My dance background led me to pursue an education and career in the health promotion/fitness field: M.S. in Kinesiology, Campus Recreation Fitness and Wellness Administrator, ACSM-Certified Personal Trainer and various fitness certifications/training. Simultaneously, I delved into yoga and mindfulness and integrated them into my programs (500-hr RYT).

My interest in health behavior change led me to study the psychosocial/behavioral aspects of activity in graduate school and obtain a health coach certification through Wellcoaches. Why and how we move is more interesting to me than what modality we choose. What I mean is that I do not believe in a hierarchy of types of exercise, but I do believe in moving with the intention of loving and taking care of yourself rather than punishment or self-hatred.

My path came full circle to my love of dance and re-integrated my creative self when I completed a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) in Expressive and Creative Arts at Salve Regina University. This multimodal approach to expressive arts has become an integral part of my personal practice and has allowed my body, mind, and spirit to expand into new heights and depths, bringing richness and appreciation to all aspects of my life.

The day after I completed the CAGS, I went into labor with my first daughter and have since welcomed a second daughter and added “Professor” to my roles. More recent trainings include Goddess Embodiment Priestess Training and Reiki. Self-exploration, spirituality, and self-expression have always been at the heart of my pursuits. My diverse background in movement, well-being, and creativity allows me to support others holistically with many “tricks up my sleeves” to carve out your own unique path to heal, transform, connect, and bloom into your authentic Self.

My Approach

I guide women along transformational journeys through a framework called Embodied Evolution, where we Embody, Explore, Express, and Evolve. If you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, burnt out, unfulfilled, off balance, or lost, this process will help you restore, recenter, and remember who you are.

Your body is a vessel for uncovering deep wisdom regarding your unique needs and desires. Through somatic practices like breathwork and movement, you can circulate energy through the body to find any blocks that are preventing you from the unfolding of your full potential. With a curious mind and open heart, you will excavate and investigate what is revealed to you. Express these findings through journaling, imagery, movement, and/or sound to open to new ways of seeing. This creative flow opens you to receive messages, symbols, and guidance from your high Self to rise (ie. “evolve”) into new ways of being.

At the heart of this process is E = Energy. So much of what holds us back are emotions that we repress to get through the demands of the day. Emotions are Energy in Motion. Somatic practices, self-inquiry, and self-expression allow these emotions to be felt, sitting/breathing/moving with them long enough for them to teach you what they have been waiting to tell you so they can move on. Allowing our emotions to surface and move through can feel uncomfortable at first until we begin to trust and befriend them with gratitude for their teachings. Through consistent practice, you will be able to embrace all aspects of yourself and see bittersweet beauty within and all around you. Dissolve through blocks and veils to soften open and fly free

Take off the suffocating old coat that no longer fits you, feel the spaciousness in your bodymind that allows energy to flow through, and open your heart to step through the portal into your next level Self.
